technology rundown:
- xhtml/css: This duo makes the front-end happen (the visual layer). We're freakishly good at creating streamlined, elegant, beautiful, search-engine friendly code.
- javascript/ajax: Want flashy, but don't want flash? Since search engines don't like flash, we avoid it when possible. Javascript is the Google friendly alternative (and doesn't require any browser plugins).
- php/mysql: PHP is the number one, most prevalent server language out there. It handles the heavy lifting behind the scenes. MySQL stores info for later use (orders, user accounts, etc).
- photoshop: Where mere ideas become beautiful designs. Also where those designs get sliced and diced into little chunks for the web.
choosing the right tool for the job
We believe in efficiency, a natural product of matching the proper tool to the job at hand. Some platforms significantly expedite the development of certain types of projects.
- no platform: For simple sites, and certain custom applications, starting from scratch may be the most efficient and flexible route.
- drupal: This top notch open source platform excels in many areas. Content management, community/social sites, storefronts, sales CRMs, etc. If you're not sold on "Open Source", consider that Drupal is currently used by whitehouse.gov, Popular Science and Sony/BMG's http://myplay.com/.
- wordpress: The tool of choice for blogging sites. Nothing matches the simplicity, and purpose-driven UI of Wordpress.
